Faculty may choose to utilize LockDown Browser on certain assessments to ensure academic integrity. When Lockdown Browser is attached to an assessment in Schoology, the student will only be able to access the assessment using the LockDown Browser application. Students are prevented from opening any other websites or programs unless allowed by the teacher.

Installing LockDown Browser

Installation link for Kolbe Academy: https://download.respondus.com/lockdown/download.php?id=413104687

IMPORTANT: In order to download LockDown Browser onto the student's computer, the computer must be logged in using an admin account. If you have not given your student admin rights to his or her computer, make sure to logout of his or her profile, then log back in with the admin account to proceed. Alternatively, you can temporarily give admin rights to your son or daughter when installing for the first time.

When you click to download, you will be brought to the following overview page. Click "Download".

Follow the steps to download to your computer. You will need to accept the terms to complete the installation.

Using LockDown Browser

If an assessment requires the use of LockDown Browser, you will see a prompt to install the browser from the instruction screen in the assessment. There is no need to download the app again if you have already installed LockDown Browser onto the computer that the student is using.

When a student begins or resumes an assessment, the normal browser may prompt to open the link via the LockDown Browser app. Click to open it. Lockdown Browser will launch, and the student can begin taking the exam.

Submit the assessment as normal when finished.  Lockdown Browser will then close.
