The Classic Learning Test (CLT) for grades 3–8 is a remote standardized assessment designed to measure student progress in reading, language, and mathematics. This article provides an overview of the test, scheduling, registration, and what families should expect.
What is the Classic Learning Test (CLT)?
The Classic Learning Test is a nationally recognized standardized test that assesses academic progress and skill development. For students in grades 3-8, the test focuses on:
- Reading and reading comprehension
- Grammar and writing mechanics
- Mathematics
The test is administered remotely and students can complete the test from home on a computer.
Registration
Students in grades 3-8 who are enrolled Full Time Online or Full Time Standard receive a CLT testing voucher included in tuition. When completing course registration, parents can select a testing voucher for the CLT test at no additional cost. Registration typically opens about 4 weeks before each testing window. At that time, families will receive an email with a link to register. Registration closes 1 week before the testing window opens. Detailed login instructions will be sent to the student's primary contact on file at that time.
Testing Window
The CLT for grades 3-8 is administered during two designated testing windows during the academic year. The fall testing window typically opens in early September and closes in late September. The spring testing window typically opens in late April and closes in late June. Specific testing window dates may change from year to year. During the testing window, students may complete the test at any time that works best for their schedule.
Test Times:
- Grades 3-6: Recommended timing approximately 2-3 hours. Sections can be administered across multiple days if desired.
- Grades 7-8: 135 minute time allotment. Test must be completed in 1 sitting (breaks are built into the testing schedule)
