Grade and Subject Placement

Kolbe Academy allows parents to select traditional homeschool, Digital Homeschool, and Asynchronous Online courses two levels above or below their student’s enrolled grade level. In order to receive credit for a course in high school, however, the course must be high school level. In middle school and high school, a few math, science, and language courses have pre-requisites or co-requisites for enrollment. Please see course descriptions for details and speak with your advisor for academic guidance.

To help determine the best placement in traditional homeschool, Digital Homeschool, and Asynchronous Online courses for your student, you may use our grade level assessment tests and subject placement tests. They are available, along with their answer keys, in our Help Center free of charge. These tests are administered and graded by the parent. You are welcome to contact your advisor if you would like to discuss the results of these tests or receive advice about our curriculum options in any subject area. Please keep in mind that you are able to customize a curriculum for your student based upon their grade level in individual subjects.

Please click here for our grade level assessments.

Note: Online courses may have specific requirements for pre-requisites, grade level, performance in previous courses (eg. Honors Algebra 2/Trig requires an A in Geometry or a B in Honors Geometry), a letter of recommendations, etc. All new to online students are required to complete a separate placement test.

Subject Placement Tests

Feel free to utilize the following subject placement tests to assist with selecting appropriate course(s) for your child.

Note: Completing these placement tests do not replace the required placement tests for new to online students.
