Parents and primary educators can track their student’s progress in online and self-paced courses from the student view within the Schoology Parent account.  Note that the student view in the parent’s Schoology account does not have the same permissions as a student’s personal Kolbe Schoology account. To learn more about Schoology student accounts, visit the Student Schoology Account Settings and Notifications article.

Parent vs. Student Schoology Accounts

A parent and a student each receive their own separate Schoology accounts.  While a parent can navigate through their student’s courses from the “student view” of the parent’s account, the “student view” does not have permission to submit assignments.  If a student cannot submit an assignment to an online or self-paced plus course, the student should verify that he is signed into his personal Schoology student account.

To toggle from the parent view to the student view, click the drop-down arrow found to the top-right of the Schoology page, then click on a student's name to switch views:

Note: When you log in to your Schoology Parent account, it defaults to the student view.

If you have multiple students enrolled in online or self-paced courses, you can toggle between views of each student or one view of all students by clicking one of your students’ names:

The default student view shows the Recent Student Activity feed in the center of the page. “Recent Grades/Attendance” and “Upcoming” (assignments/events) summaries are listed to the right:

Viewing Grades in the Student View

To view a student’s grades in detail, click the “Grades” tab on the header at the top of the screen. Then select “Grade Report”.  This will bring up a list of all the student’s current courses.  Clicking on a course title will expand the grading periods for the course. Clicking the drop-down arrows listed under the course will expand upon the course’s grading periods, categories, and individual grades:

For families with multiple students enrolled, view each student's grades by selecting the student’s name from the drop-down arrow next to the student’s name at the top-right of the page:

Viewing Attendance in the Student View

To view a student’s attendance, click the “Attendance” tab on the header at the top of the screen. Teachers may leave notes on the student's interaction and participation in each live class.

Student View Calendar

The calendar in the student view allows the parent/educator to see upcoming school-wide, course, and group events listed on the student’s calendar. The student’s calendar is not editable from the parent Schoology account. The student can edit their calendar from within their own Schoology account.

The calendar view shows past and upcoming assignments. Click on an assignment to determine whether the student has made a submission/revision:
